An Information Modeling Method for Electric Micro Grids

The aim of this paper is to provide a concept for an information modeling method for micro grids, which will be used as building blocks for a smart grid. The data modeling method utilized is based primarily upon the IEC 61850 communication protocol standard. The article points out several useful features of the IEC 61850 communication protocol, the virtual information model and the communication model of an electric micro grid. The main purpose of this publication is to provide an universal information modeling method for micro grids which make up larger scale smart grids. This paper will also point out further research directions regarding this topic.
